World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The upgrade option lets players increase an item's gear rating up 700 points, and then add a bonus. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory, and then taking them to the kiln.
Certain items can be upgraded for their unique stats (like perfect rolled breakpoint armour used in melee PvP) while others like weapons do not change significantly after an upgrade, and therefore aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to improve their numeric stats, such as the chance to crit, attack damage PvE and damage to PvP. Weapons come with a flat-rate bonus that increases damage per second. A lot of weapons also come with a fixed bonus which is activated when three or more identical weapons are equipped in a unit. In some cases this bonus could add up to more than the amount of damage a weapon can sustain on its own.
The cost of upgrading a weapon varies on its rarity and current level. For example, an +2 weapon requires two regular Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade the gun will increase until it needs a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point, it will reset back to one.
Upgrades to weapons can also alter the stats of their base. This is usually a good thing, but it can also have negative consequences. In the case of items that only see use in a particular build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs for instance), upgrading them may make them unusable unless you happen to have an extremely lucky roll.
It is possible to upgrade armor items to boost their performance. In the case of chests or helms this will increase the defense of its base, while a belt and gloves will improve their required strength and dexterity. Armor has a rerolling feature for its Enhanced Defense%. This means that it may reduce its value.
The upgrade template of a weapon will display the new stats it will gain when upgrading along with the relative values of those stats. This means that the weapon will gain 33% attack damage when it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. However the 3% difference doesn't mean that it will strike for 3 times less often, since it is an absolute statistic.
Rerolling item upgrading is also possible by pressing the green button on the item menu using the circling arrows. The item will be rerolled and alter its stats however, it will not reset the weapon's level or connect to the status of your account.
Armor
A few tweaks to your armor can make huge differences in your ability to endure. Certain sets provide massive increases in poison or curse, fire or magic resistance, which makes the journey through difficult terrain a breeze. In general, the more defense you have on your character, the greater health you will gain from each point. Therefore, it's a good idea to upgrade your armor.
You can upgrade your armor by visiting one of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four Great Fairy Fountains within the game, and to unlock each fountain, you must complete an additional quest that involves the Stable Trotters. Once you've done the main side quest and have completed the corresponding fountain, you can then speak to any Great Fairy to open up the menu for upgrading your armor.
The amount of materials required to upgrade each piece of armor will vary. In general, you're looking at anything from three to five Red Chuchu Jellies and ten Rupees for the initial upgrade, and anywhere between five Rubies and ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent upgrade. For example, the Champion Leathers can be upgraded to +5 defense, which allows you to keep up with a large group of adversaries in most cold conditions, and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded to +20 defense, giving you enough protection to survive the full-on assault with a few of your friends.
Note that armor can't be upgraded in the same way as weapons, so you'll have to concentrate on upgrading it to gain physical power if you're a Warrior or Spell Power when you're Mage. It's also a good idea to save your armor upgrades for the armor you'll be wearing at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield, or the helmet you wear to fight the final boss and the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.
By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town and you will be able to unlock perks for your armor. Generally, you'll want to keep these upgrades for the weapon you'll be using to win the game, such as the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer However, it is useful to have a few upgrades to your chest armor and helmets that allow you to stealth around certain monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquids that when consumed by the participant, produce a temporary effect. There are five different types of potions, each with a specific set of effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded to increase their level of effectiveness. Additionally the effects of some potions can be enhanced by adding glowstone dust or redstone to the potions.
Potion upgrades cost a specific amount of XP. These can be earned by crafting them on a table or the chest of the Alchemist. However, the upgrade price will vary based on the type of potion you'd like to upgrade, as well as on the item's Mark Level as well as its rarity.
To upgrade a potions you need to right-click it in your inventory. Select "Upgrade" from the menu. This will open an GUI which allows you to choose the potion that you wish to upgrade, and the amount of experience they will give you when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches up to five at once, and their XP will be added to the total XP you have.
Once a potion has been upgraded, it will not degrade until you use it again or break the bottle it's stored in. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will allow you to change the name of the potion.
Version 1.7.2 introduced a few modifications to the mechanics of potions. Splash potions for instance, now have a duration zero, not the 22.5 seconds that are displayed on the hover display of the item. The potion table can now be constructed using four Wood Planks and two Glass. It can now be utilized in both Survival and Bedrock. item upgrades are not compatible with cauldrons like Java Edition. The same is true for using a potion in an empty cauldron. This will draw out the liquid, and then refill the bottle.
Finally, there are simmering potions made with dragon breath and splash potions. Similarly, a lingering potions can be enhanced by adding redstone. The potion table has been rearranged to look more like the Java Edition. New potions have also been added for instance, the potion of leaping and decomposition.
Trinkets
A trinket can be an ornamental item that is small, cheap or piece of jewelry. It could also refer to an object or ornament that serves a function but isn't essential such as a Thimble. In some cultures a trinket can be used to show affection or friendship between family members.
In addition to armor, weapons, and potions, players are able to upgrade their trinkets. They can be upgraded by going to an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate currency. Trinkets, unlike other items that can be upgraded can be exchanged at any time without losing stats.
Upgrade vendors can be found at the capitals of every zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are offered with gold, tokens, or fragments from a rare trinket.
Upgrades are a less expensive alternative to purchasing a new trinket. You can upgrade a trinket with as little 12 tokens. The new trinket comes with the same level of base as the old trinket, however, it will also come with an additional 1% bonus upgrade.
Trinkets can be re-upgraded once the old ones are not needed, allowing a player to increase their power and value over time. They can also be traded between players, making them an attractive alternative to gold.
In general, players should upgrade their most important items first. This usually means the best-in-slot items for their class, then their secondaries and then other items of gear they won't replace soon (for instance an earring or cloak). When choosing which items to upgrade, players should also be aware of their class's preferred statistics. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats for a tank player and they want to upgrade their chest, helm, and shoulders.
After they've become unusable trinkets are able to be upgraded to a higher level. The new trinket comes with an additional 1% bonus. Re-upgrading will cause the trinket to be destroyed unless it is salvaged with the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a higher tier salvage tool. Upgrades to trinkets can be more expensive than other upgrades but still less expensive than buying an entirely new trinket.
