Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
Item upgrade, commonly referred to as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment results in an increase in the linearity of a given stat.
Players can recycle up to six items at once to gain an ability to gauge the level of each of the upgraded components. The cost of recycling items scales depending on their rarity and level.
Upgrade components
An upgrade for an item in Guild Wars 2 is a procedure that can improve the power of your weapons and armor. This can be achieved by a variety of methods, including by using upgrade components or increasing the rarity of an item or its mark level. A lot of items can be reforged in order to increase their value.
You can find upgradeable items throughout the game. They are available throughout all over the world and are rewards for missions. They can also be crafted by players. The most common method of upgrading gear is through the use of upgrade components, which are the items that can be slotted into equipment. Most equipment comes with upgrade slots, and many require a certain level of upgrade. Some upgrade components offer specific bonuses, while others give a general bonus.
There are several types of upgrade components in the game, such as universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gemstones and enchantments, can be used in any kind of equipment and offer fewer bonuses than those that are equipment-type specific. Glyphs are only available on gathering tools. They offer a variety of bonuses, from increasing the speed at which an item gathers to providing extra crafting material.
Select the item in your inventory, and then open the Upgrade window. The preview will be displayed on the right-hand side of the screen. It will display the expected stats following the upgrade. If you don't possess enough of either, the Upgrade button will say Blocked.
The amount of upgrade components needed for a given item is displayed in the upper-right corner of the Upgrade window. The cost of an upgrade increases depending on the rarity and level of the item increases. However you can cut down on the cost by purchasing upgrades from a seller, or trading them with other players.
Most weapons can be improved by adding a prefix, such as a rune, or an insignia. Some can be upgraded with the suffix. These upgrades can be used to add an adjective to the item's name for example "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".
Glyphs
Glyphs are a way to convey information via visuals. They animate to capture the attention of the viewer and stimulate interest in the brain. The animation of glyphs resembles the body language, making them more effective in transmitting the message of a language barrier. Glyphs can also increase the recall of the message by triggering a familiarity in the brain.
Each glyph can increase the value of a stat by a certain range. This is shown on the item when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This is not the actual amount at the glyph can increase a stat, but the maximum value by which it can increase a stat. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the quality and tier of the item you're in awe of it.
Most upgrade components inserted into items can't be replaced or salvaged without removing the gear in question, with the exception of legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a glyph or rune you don't want to use but it hasn't been incorporated to gear yet, you can move the item to a different piece by selecting the Upgrade Glyphs menu on the Glyphs Panel. This will create an entirely new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.
If you want to remove a glyph from an item, you will need to save it using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool. The item where the glyph is installed will be destroyed, but the upgraded item can be recovered using the glyph shards.
A glyph added to an item can cause it to become unstable and the shards of the glyph will disappear from your inventory when you remove the item. You can also put an inscription to your equipment to give it a bonus. Deferred Damage, for example can store damage, and then be dealt out slowly to the wearer instead of all at one time. This is helpful for players who take many hits from enemies however do not want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens permit players to alter the affixes on their weapons and equipment, and can be found in a variety of ways, including in mistery boxes or as an uncommon drop from skulled creatures, or from killing bosses. Reroll tokens give players a new random affix, which is usually better than the original one. Reroll tokens can also be used to improve weapon stats to cause more damage or bonuses.
Items that have been rerolled do not appear in the item upgrade menu, but they can still receive upgrades. item upgrades can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button which alters the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to recycle. Recycling an item can add a small amount of points to its gauge of level. The amount is based on the item's rarity and also its level. Therefore, items that are higher level are more valuable for recycling than items with lower levels.
In addition to reroll tokens players can also use Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to roll the traits of a weapon in an upgraded unit. Rerolls will roll a % chance of a weapon's traits. If it scores higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it rolls lower the weapon remains as is. Weapons can be upgraded up to 3 times.
Rerolls are a great option to upgrade an item, however, players should be aware that it can lower the overall ilvl of the weapon by the number of rerolls needed in order to increase the weapon to its ultimate ilvl. This lowering effect is most effective for Diadems and rings that don't have competing ilvl-raising options.
The Reroll system has been criticized by players as being too expensive, and it would be more equitable to let players pay for it with money or food items that would allow them to change their builds without wasting time and energy. The developers have no plans to implement paid rerolls at this stage in the game's development. Instead, they're planning include an option to change the race in the near future.
Leveling
There are a variety of ways to upgrade an item. The most effective method to level up an upgrade to an item is to increase the amount of upgrade. This boosts the value of an upgrade for any stat. The second option is to increase the effect of the upgrade, which increases the damage or healing of a stat. The base item can be upgraded to an advanced upgrade type. The new item will retain its iLevel but be upgraded to reflect the effects of the upgraded item.
When you upgrade items it is essential to remember that upgrades are not guaranteed. In most cases a better roll is based on the glyphs. However, there are times when a more or unique roll may occur. The item type will also determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a rare or exclusive item to a unique kind of item, it is likely to gaining an additional level.
Upgrading items can be costly especially when you're upgrading a piece of equipment from the standard to legendary track. The price will depend on the item's base iLevel and the amount of upgrade levels it offers. Additionally, certain upgrade tracks require crests to achieve the next upgrade level.
If you're lucky the upgraded item will reach the maximum level on its upgrade track and gain an additional benefit. This will give the item a significant upgrade value. The bonus effect changes with each upgrade level. In general, the upgrade effect is increased by +3.
The iLevel will also change depending on the item's upgrade path and its base level. For example, an item that is upgraded from being a scarce or unique item to an outstanding one is likely to gain the enhanced defense of the new base item.
